Family:  Poeciliidae (Poeciliids), subfamily: Poeciliinae
Max. size:  3.7 cm SL (male/unsexed); 8.5 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  Central America: Cuba.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in ponds, lakes and lowland streams (2-150, usually less than 30, m elevation). Prefers stagnant water over muddy substrate with abundant aquatic vegetation. Feeds on diatoms, algae, leaves of aquatic plants, detritus and insect larvae.
