Family:  Gadidae (Cods and haddocks)
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 100 - 1000 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Northeast Atlantic: North Cape, Skagerrak to Bay of Biscay. Western Mediterranean (Ref.123983).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-29; Anal soft rays: 11-16. Vertebrae 39-43. Dull with dark flecks on head and back.
Biology:  Over muddy bottoms. Spawns in spring. Important prey for several commercial fish.
