Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  6.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: USA, from Bush River in Maryland to Neuse River in North Carolina.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit sandy runs of creeks and small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723). Eggs are found attached to the substrate unguarded (Ref. 7043).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 25 January 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
