Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: found only in the upper Tennessee River drainage of Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee in the USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits swift rubble riffles of small to medium rivers (Ref. 5723, 10294).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 23 January 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
