Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  5.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: known from affluent rivers of Lake Victoria in Kenya (Ref. 104796) and from the Malawa (Ref. 4903) and Aswa Rivers (Ref. 105002) in Uganda.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in streams and rivers during floods, in floodwater pools during dry season; probably two breeding seasons coinciding with rains; floodwater pools and shallow pools in lake-side streams are spawning grounds (Ref. 104796). Feeds on debris, algae, higher plant material, insects and other organisms (Ref. 12523).
