Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  5.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 0 - 8 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Tana and its tributary rivers, Ethiopia (Ref. 2801, 96382).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In Lake Tana it dominates in shallow and intermediate deep areas (0-8 m) mainly without vegetation, over both rocky and sandy/muddy substrates with much lower transparency (Ref. 96382).
