Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Isla de Providencia (Colombia) and Venezuela (Ref. 47837).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 19-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 14-15; Anal soft rays: 22-23. Dorsal fin of males very large, with flag-like flaps on base of first spine.
