Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Syngnathinae
Max. size:  9.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: mostly south of 24°S, and from Jervis Bay, New South Wales, Australia to Easter Island.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in inshore waters (Ref. 75154). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).

Threat to humans:  harmless
