Family:  Callichthyidae (Callichthyid armored catfishes), subfamily: Corydoradinae
Max. size:  6.25 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 2 - 25; depth range 0 - 2 m
Distribution:  South America: Oyapock River basin and smaller coastal drainages in French Guiana.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in creeks with sandy to sandy-muddy substrate, medium or little sun, 0.5 to 2 m depth. Rarely caught. The mature male's pectoral spine is uniformly very thick along its whole length and is provided with fine needles (Ref. 35381). Sympatric with C. amapaensis.
