Max. size:  37 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 11 years
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater; depth range 30 - 190 m
Distribution:  North America: found only in Great Lakes (except Lake Erie) in Canada-USA and Lake Nipigon in Canada. This species is probably extirpated from Lake Ontario and Lake Nipigon, rare in Lake Michigan, and declining in Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in large lakes, generally at depths of 30-190 m (Ref.86798).
