Cobitis laoensis (Sauvage, 1878)

Max. size:  10.6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong basin (Ref. 12041). Reportedly from Laos, but no exact locality data; central Viet Nam (Ref. 43281).
Diagnosis:  Flank with longitudinal series of squarish black blotches; vermiculated marks arranged in 2 rows above mid-lateral blotches; small black dot at upper extremity of caudal base (Ref. 43281).
Biology:  Oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205).

Threat to humans:  harmless
