Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Inhambane, Mozambique to the Kei Mouth in South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 27-31; Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-6; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 21-24. Color varies in olive, browns and reds with obscure crossbars; preserved specimens uniform buff in color (Ref. 5496).
Biology:  Occurs in weedy tide pools and subtidal areas.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
