Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 32-34; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 26-28. Color ranges from reddish, green or green-brown with crossbars; fins barred or spotted (Ref. 5496).
Biology:  Inhabits subtidal weedy areas.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
