Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5; dH range: 10 - 30
Distribution:  Central America: Atlantic slope, in the Grijalva and Usumacinta drainages in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits moderate flowing waters of the middle and upper river valleys. Occurs in small groups, usually 10-30, staying relatively close to large rock formations.
