Family:  Exocoetidae (Flyingfishes)
Max. size:  23 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: widespread but not found in the inland seas of southeastern Asia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Epipelagic in near-shore waters, never spread to open sea. May leap out of the water and glide for considerable distances above the surface (Ref. 9300).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 May 2008 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
