Max. size:  5.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: coastal basins of southern Brazil at western tributaries of Laguna dos Patos basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Dark spots on dorsal fin do not form a continuous band across rays; anal fin of males with small spots, without larger blotches on the anterior portion. Fourth or fifth ray of pectoral fin longest, not reaching or just reaching to pelvic-fin origin. Third fin ray of pelvic fin longest, reaching area between anal opening and anal fin origin or reaching anal fin origin (Ref. 27672).
Biology:  Most specimens examined were collected in small rivers or creeks with slow to moderate water current and mud, sand, and loose stones on the bottom (Ref. 27672).
