Family:  Latilidae (Deepwater tilefishes)
Max. size:  36 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 18 - 41 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Gulf of California in Mexico to Peru, including the Galapagos Islands; apparently an old record from southern California, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits the bottom, in the area occupied by C. affinis and C. princeps, but prefers shallower waters.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
