Family:  Batrachoididae (Toadfishes), subfamily: Batrachoidinae
Max. size:  23 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico; south along the coast of Central America to the Canal Zone in Panama.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-26; Anal soft rays: 22-23
Biology:  Apparently feeds on xanthid and portunid crabs, Macrobrachium shrimps, gastropods, and fish bones (Ref. 30499).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 November 2018 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
