Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: New Zealand (Ref. 5755). Eastern Pacific: southern part of the California Current region to the Gulf of California (Ref. 35904); also Chile (Ref. 9068).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 14-17; Vertebrae: 45-50
Biology:  Found mostly in the mesopelagic area (Ref. 35904). Possibly undergoes vertical migration (Ref. 35904). Oviparous, with planktonic eggs and larvae (Ref. 35904).
