Distribution:  South America: Amazon and Orinoco River basins; Guianas and upper ParanĂ¡ River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in the quiet zones of swamps or the lower parts of stream. Carnivorous. Swims close to the bottom, feeding mainly on fish (Ref. 35381).
