| Symptoms: | Skin undergoes a rust-colored appearance and a dense mucus covering of the skin. | |
| Treatments: | Continous application of copper sulphate (0.75 ppm into the infected tanks). Another treatment is the mixture of 5-hydrate copper sulphate with citric acid monohydrate, producing 0.15 ppm copper ion concentration in the water. Take note however that the concentrations should be adjusted according to the freshwater medium and the species of fish being treated. Freshwater with a pH level of 7.0 (tropical aquaculture) in a 0.3 concentration would be lethal to fish like Puntius gonionotus fry. | |
