Infected fish loose their appetite, exhibits weak swimming, and rests at the bottom. Expanded swim bladder can be seen in immature fish. |
No treament, therefore prevention is important. |
Removal of small dead or weakened fish from the tank, disinfection of tanks, maintain excellent water quality (e.g. increase amount of water intake), and administration of antibiotics when affected fish or larvae were observed to exhibit symptoms. |
Mortality of the disease can reach to 100% for larvae, but not in juvenile and fingerling stage. Histopathological vacuolation and degeneration of nerve cells in the brain and retina has also been observed in the disected fish. |
