Distribution: South America: Lower tributaries of the río Uruguay (río Cuareim, río Salto, and río Negro basins), and río de La Plata (río Santa Lucía and arroyo Pand) in Uruguay. Not recorded from the Uruguay River basin in Brazil after extensive sampling for the last 20 years.
