Remarks 'Morue' (variant 'molue') of obscure origins; maybe from Celt 'mer'; and Old French 'luz' from Old Latin 'lucius' (p. 477 in Ref. 9404, see also 'gade' and 'brochet'); 'arctique', i.e., Arctic, from Latin 'arcticus' borrowed from Greek 'arktikos', i.e., of 'arktos' or bear and the Great Bear (p. 44 in Ref. 9404). Name not listed in ASFIS version 2006 (Ref. 56807).
